The Little Barnyard is partnering with GoodRoots Family Education to host classes at the farm this summer! GoodRoots helps families connect with each other and experience the benefits of being outside. GoodRoots stemmed from the hope that founder Tina could provide other new parents with an opportunity to garden, or simply spend time outside, with their infants in a safe, welcoming space. Together, GoodRoots connects parents with each other, with their children, and with themselves all through gardening. June Session

Tuition price: $180 covers the entire family

Dates: June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28 (Fridays)

Time: 11:30 am -12:30 pm

Ages of children: 0-2

Come enjoy the GoodRoots garden on Friday mornings in June. During class, our gardening activities will focus on planting and watering seedlings and spending time in the garden beds. With 20 plant varieties, we’ll work together to carefully plant seedlings and direct-sow seeds into the soil. We will take our time and focus on the process of planting versus the end result; it’s more important to connect with each other and ourselves. This will be an opportunity to slow down during our busy lives!

Parent education will focus on topics such as transitions, self-care, child development, and any topic you want to learn more about!

Summer Session

Tuition price: $270 covers the entire family

Dates: June 10 and 24; July 8 and 22; August 5 and 19 (every other Monday)

Time: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Ages of children: 0-2

Come enjoy the garden with your little one on Monday evenings! June is an exciting time in the garden: seedlings are sprouting up, the last frost has passed, and the ground is finally waking up after its long winter sleep. The gardening activities we’ll be doing during June will focus on transplanting seedlings into the garden, working with the dirt, and watering plants. In July and August, the garden will really come alive! We’ll harvest fresh vegetables and herbs to enjoy during class, you’ll take cut flowers home, and we’ll dry herbs for teas and culinary use. We’ll enjoy the therapeutic benefits of being outside with our little ones, soaking in the summer sunshine, and getting our hands in the dirt.

Parent education topics will include managing transitions, the benefits of nature-based play, mindfulness and self-care, as well as any topics you want to discuss with fellow parents! Connecting with other parents and learning from each other is a huge part of GoodRoots. By the end of summer, we’ll have grown a garden and grown together!
